About the Artwork: Berst is known for his immaculate and creative graffiti style and his experience in the field is vast. We're excited to feature his artwork as part of this risograph series, and the vertical format of his lettering is perfectly balanced, bold, and dynamic.
About the Artist: Dr. Bobby ‘Berst’ Hung was born in Hong Kong and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. He is a graffiti writer, illustrator, visual arts educator, researcher, and videographer. Berst began painting graffiti in the early 2000s until the present and has painted in over 30 cities across the globe. Two international accolades include a Guinness World Record in 2014 alongside 60 graffiti and street artists in Dubai which accomplished the world’s longest graffiti scroll spanning 2.24KM long and 2nd place at the Ono’u International Graffiti competition in Tahiti during 2014. His interest in graffiti centers primarily around the exploration of lettering, colour, typography, and abstraction. Beyond the dimension of painting graffiti, he is also invested in the documentation and passing down of intergenerational knowledge from the local graffiti scene through projects such as the Real Time Web Series, Fresh Press Magazine, and Encounter graffiti battles.
