Seikon & Papaleonida - Long Trip of the Kokos

Acrylic on stretched canvas over a box frame.

1600 x 1200mm W

About the Artwork: Painted with exacting precision, this work was part of a solo show of the same name, Long Trip of the Kokos. It was the culmination of Anastasia Papaleonida and Robert Seikon’s nearly month-long residency at Fiksate, and their long travels through the Philippines and Aotearoa. “[In] the Philippines we saw a lot of coconuts, and the kokos [sic] were travelling somehow, they go to the water, they were moving by the ocean, falling down, jumping to another island, and maybe we are a little bit like these kokos; travelling, stopping here and leaving this small mark…” – Seikon

About the Artists: Robert Seikon (Poland) and Anastasia Papaleonida (Greece) have been collaborating on studio and public works since early 2019, combining their striking abstract styles. Seikon's geometric murals can be found around the world and his studio work has featured in a long list of solo and group shows. Anastasia's recent work explores repetition and dynamic, monochrome abstract forms. Her art has been featured in gallery exhibitions as well as on murals, interacting with the place and surfaces of the buildings where they exist.
